A licensed nursing home administrator for over 20 years, Susan has overseen and supervised major senior healthcare facilities in New Jersey. She is an accomplished executive with experience as a Chief Executive Officer, a Chief Operating Officer, a nursing home administrator, activity therapist, activity director and senior care provider consultant.
Susan is knowledgeable in all aspects of skilled nursing facility operations from regulatory and HIPAA compliance to QAPI/Performance and outcome evaluation.
As a healthcare compliance specialist for Med-Net Healthcare Consulting, LLC she assists clients in Department of Health survey preparation, leads mock surveys, offers plans for QAPI, facility assessment, emergency preparedness, infection control and antibiotic stewardship as well as providing medical record audits and training for all disciplines.
Susan has presented educational programs for The New Jersey Activities Professionals Association (NJAPA) and other activity groups and associations throughout the country on regulatory, compliance and a variety of program topics.
Ms. Harris served as an expert member of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) work panel that revised the regulations and surveyor guidance for the Activity and Activity Director F-Tags. She also wrote the curriculum for and provided the training on these new regulations via the CMS surveyor satellite training for state surveyors throughout the United States.
Susan has been a member of the education taskforce at LeadingAge NJ and served as a member of the Public Policy Congress for LeadingAge National and has presented at the White House on senior care Issues.
Ms. Harris holds a Masters’ Certificate in Senior Care Management and a degree in Art Therapy. She is a licensed nursing home administrator and a certified activity director-
Susan previously served NJAPA as Vice-President and Legislation Chair Person. She is the recipient of the New Jersey Activity Professionals Association’s Madison E. Weidner Lifetime Achievement Award, their highest honor. Ms. Harris holds professional membership and affiliations in many organizations and has had articles published in McKnight’s Long-Term Care News and other publications.
