SC AG announces NC woman pleads guilty to Medical Assistance Provider Fraud

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that Monica Floyd, 50 years old, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, pleaded guilty in Richland County General Sessions Court on January 25, 2022 to Medical Assistance Provider Fraud in violation of SC Code §43-07-60. Floyd was sentenced to 30 months in prison, the balance of which was suspended to three years of probation with $9,360.00 ordered in restitution to the South Carolina Medicaid Program. The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services referred this case to the S.C. Attorney General’s Office Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for criminal investigation and prosecution. Floyd was employed as a Mental Health Specialist with Carolina Therapeutic Services in the Rock Hill area, which operated as a Behavioral Health provider, providing counseling services to adults and children. The investigation revealed that between April 2016 and June 2016 Floyd created and submitted service notes for services she did not render and was not qualified to perform.
