New Hampshire Home Health Aide Convicted of Theft by Deception

Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Elis Urena De Cruz, age 42, of Manchester, New Hampshire, has been convicted and sentenced for theft of New Hampshire Medicaid funds. Between March 24, 2021, and May 31, 2021, Ms. Urena De Cruz submitted fraudulent timesheets to her employer, MAS Staffing, falsely stating that she was providing home care services to an individual who Ms. Urena De Cruz knew was not at home, and who was, in fact, in the Dominican Republic. In reliance on her false timesheets, Ms. Urena De Cruz’s employer unwittingly submitted claims to New Hampshire Medicaid for care that Ms. Urena De Cruz did not render. The Merrimack County Superior Court sentenced Ms. Urena De Cruz to serve six months in the Merrimack County House of Corrections, fully suspended for two years, and placed her on probation for one year. The Court did not order restitution as a condition of Ms. Urena de Cruz’s suspended sentence because she paid restitution in full prior to sentencing.
