Another man has been sentenced in a series of cases involving multimillion-dollar healthcare fraud and kickback conspiracies. Earlier this week, US District Court Judge L. Scott Coogler sentenced John Alan Robson, 41, of Trussville, to 56 months in prison. Robson was also ordered to pay forfeiture of about $1.1 million, and restitution of about $5.3 million. In February 2024, Robson pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud conspiracy related to his work with Brian Bowman, James Ray, and others. According to Robson’s plea agreement, Robson knew that insurers would not pay for items or services that had been ordered based on kickbacks or that were medically unnecessary for a patient. Yet Robson received kickbacks—from specialty pharmacies, a nerve conduction testing company, and brace suppliers—to generate medically unnecessary orders and prescriptions from doctors’ offices that would be billed to insurance and reimbursed at high rates.
